-------------------------------------------------------------------ABSTRACT------------------------------------------------------------This paper focuses on improving the Image compression ratio and having 100% quality factor. The major emphasis has been on Arithmetic Coding, its principle has been applied to get the wanted results i.e. higher compression ratio than JPEG on an average quality factor. JPEG algorithm is context dependent it is most valuable when there is less variation in image pixels values, but still JPEG is mostly used image compression standard.
